Answers

Can reflexology cure my illness?

Reflexology does not treat specific illness and is not a substitute for medical care. If you are experiencing any specific medical problems and have not seen your medical doctor, I recommend that you do so.

Can I have reflexology treatment if I'm pregnant?

Yes. Reflexology can be given after the third month in pregnancy.

Would I ever need to consult my GP before reflexology treatment?

There are many instances when written medical permission would be required from your GP or a specialist before proceeding with reflexology treatment. They are:

  • Low or high blood pressure
  • Heart disorders
  • Cardiac pacemakers
  • Diabetes
  • Undiagnosed lumps
  • Aids
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fever and infectious diseases
  • Intoxication
  • Within 5 years of having cancer as rogue cells may spread through the lymph system
  • Medication for serious conditions: reflexology may alter the level of drug in the body
  • Cardiovascular conditions such as deep vein thrombosis: reflexology improves circulation so it could cause clots to move around the body
  • For pregnant women with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, previous miscarriages, pre-term labour, anaemia or pre-eclampsia reflexology treatments should not be used

In circumstances where medical permission cannot be obtained clients must give their informed consent in writing prior to treatment.

Is reflexology only for specific ages?

The elderly, women, pregnant women, men and children can all benefit from reflexology. It is a very safe treatment.
